Don't Forget Thanksgiving!
It seems the world rushes right from Halloween into Christmas without giving much thought to Thanksgiving. The business world can't make much of a profit off it, except for selling turkeys, and many people are already thinking about what gifts they need to buy for family and friends for Christmas.
But the Bible is filled with reasons for thankfulness. Christians should especially be thankful every day for what Christ has done, is doing and will do in us and through us. Here are some examples of thanksgiving from the New International Version:
I will praise God's name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.
But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.
1 Cor. 1:4
I always thank God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thes. 2:13
And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.
2 Thes. 1:3
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
1 Tim. 1:12
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers
